The blazon

or, a demi lion, rampant, gu. — Crest, of Ludford, a boar s head, couped, erminois, in the mouth a cross, pattee, gu. the head charged with an escallop sa. for distinction. [Exemplified, Wth Sept. 1826, to John Chetwode, Esq. of Ansley-Hall, Warwickshire, ( eldest son and heir apparent of Sir John Chetwode, of Oakley, Staffordshire, Bart.) who, by royal sign manual, dated Isf August, 1826, together with Elizabeth- Juliana, his wife, eldest daughter and coheiress of John- Newdigate Ludford, late of Ansley-Hall, aforesaid, Esq. were authorized, in compliance with a clause, contained in an indenture of settlement, to take and use the surnames of Newdigate-Ludford, in addition to and after that of Chetwode, and that he might, also, bear the Arms of Ludford, quarterly, in the second quarter, with those of Chetivode.']
